Since I travel between Wisconsin and Indiana during the winter months a set
of snow tires are a necessity. These tires have done a great job of providing
traction on snow cover roads. After owning a GS-R for several years I really
appreciate the additional traction of the Type R's LSD
(limited-slip-differential). Wheel slippage have been
dramatically reduced in
comparison to the one wheel wonder GS-R with an open differential.
These are wonderful snow tires but when the roads are clear I really miss the
stock RE010's. The Hakkapeliitta's have quite a bit of side wall flex. This
characteristic of all serious snow tires gives the car a floating feeling when
simply changing lanes. Despite this lack of dry pavement precision these Nokian
tires provide a quiet and cushioned ride. According to the tread wear ratting
they could last up to 35,000 miles.
